Clarity
We organise technical public register data into clearer sections so users can understand what they are looking at more quickly.
Check Company UK is an independent service designed to make public UK company information easier to search, understand and review. We use public Companies House data and organise relevant information into a clearer experience for users who want to check a company or review company appointments.
Public company records contain useful information, but the underlying register can be technical and fragmented across different resources. Check Company UK is built to reduce that friction.
The aim is simple: help users identify the correct UK company, review important public information and understand what the available Companies House data does — and does not — tell them.
We organise technical public register data into clearer sections so users can understand what they are looking at more quickly.
We explain where the data comes from, what API resources are used and the limits of public register information.
Where personal data is involved, particularly in Director Search, we intentionally limit what is displayed to information relevant to professional company appointments.
Company status, filings, officers, charges and insolvency information are easier to understand when shown together rather than as isolated fields.
We distinguish between information returned by Companies House and conclusions that cannot be established from public company data alone.
Check Company UK is not the official register. It is an independent interface built around public Companies House information.
Check Company UK provides its own search and presentation layer around public Companies House data. We decide how the interface is organised and how available public information is displayed.
Companies House is responsible for the official UK companies register. Check Company UK does not create, amend, approve or validate filings submitted to Companies House.
Company information is requested from Companies House through public API resources used by the service.
The site is clearly presented as an independent service rather than as part of Companies House or the UK Government.
An active registration or the absence of a particular public warning does not prove that a company is financially strong, trustworthy or suitable for a transaction.
Where possible, the interface distinguishes register facts from broader conclusions that would require additional due diligence.
Director Search makes it possible to search an officer by name and review associated company appointments. Because this involves personal data, we deliberately limit the information displayed.
The current interface focuses on the officer name, appointment count, company name, company number, company status, role, appointment date and resignation date where available.
We do not display date of birth, nationality, country of residence, correspondence address or residential address in Director Search.
More detail about the information we use and exclude is available on our Data Sources page and will also be covered in our Privacy Policy.Read How It Works for the search and report flow, or see Data Sources for a detailed explanation of the Companies House resources used by the site.
